Remaining drop-off sites for Irma debris to close
Lee County will close its two remaining Hurricane Irma public drop-off sites at 5 p.m. Sunday. Starting Monday, Jan. 8, all remaining residential horticulture should be placed at the curb in compliance with normal collection operations. Visit www.leegov.com/solidwaste
The location of the two sites that will close are:
* North Fort Myers, 17771 N. Tamiami Trail
* Lee County Mosquito Control District site
Lee County’s cleanup effort resulted in collecting more than 1.6 million cubic yards of horticulture and C&D (construction and demolition) debris in three months. The cost to clean up the debris is estimated at $36 million to $40 million in unincorporated Lee County and the Village of Estero, with anticipated partial reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
