2 min read

Cape Coral residents can rev their engines next weekend as the Modern Muscle Car Expo returns for a day of big-blocks, coupes and lots of horsepower.

The expo will take place at the Yacht Club Community Park on Feb. 8, where residents can bring their souped-up rides for viewing and talk shop with other muscle car owners and enthusiasts.

“This is a great event for people who love cars,” said Lisa Todd, recreation specialist with the city of Cape Coral. “This is a place where you can come out and talk about your car with those who share the same passion.”

Hosted by the City of Cape Coral Parks and Recreation, all years or makes are welcome, but the highlights are on modern muscle cars.

Proceeds are to benefit the Rotino Center.

There will be eight classes where prizes will be awarded, broken down into four stock and four modified.

Each class will have a first, second and third place winner.

Awards will also be given out for Best in Show and a people’s choice winner.

Registration is $20 to anyone wanting to enter their vehicle. Spectators can come out and enjoy the day for free.

The first 50 people through the gates will receive a goodie bag, and every paid participant gets a complimentary continental-style breakfast.

“This is a very popular event for car lovers in the area,” said Todd. “We had over 90 vehicles last year and almost 500 people.”

There will also be music, door prizes and 50/50 raffle. Todd said for spectators, food (nothing more than $1) will be offered as well.

The event runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Yacht Club Community Park is at 5817 Driftwood Parkway.
