CCPD identifies bicyclist injured in crash
Update:
The bicyclist involved in a crash that left him unconscious with life-threatening injuries has been identified as Gary Eymann, 74, of North Fort Myers.
Eymann was cycling southbound on De Navarra Parkway, just south of Porto Vista Way when the chain of the bicycle was dislodged, impacting his leg, Cape Coral police said in a release issued Thursday.
“The front brakes were applied which forced the bike into an end-over, sending the cyclist over the handle bars and on to the roadway,” a release from the department states.
Eymann, who police say was not wearing a helmet, “suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the crash and was trauma alert transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.”
