Four Pine Island residents facing drug charges

Last week, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the ATF, conducted three residential search warrants at the homes of several alleged drug dealers operating within Lee County.

Among those arrested, the LCSO reported, were four residents of Pine Island. Taken into custody on Thursday, Nov. 21, were Tommi Jelinda Chambers, 31, Leann Dupree Chambers, 51, and Calvin Hawkins, 61, all of 5935 Sea Bass Road, Bokeelia; along with Harold William Baird, 56, of 5779 Villas Way, Bokeelia

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, the months-long investigations into the suspects revealed the illegal sales, trafficking and possession of drugs and guns. The two-day operation resulted in the seizure of the following: Fentanyl, 4.2 grams; methamphetamines, 9.22 grams; cocaine, 36.8 grams; marijuana, 70.5 grams; numerous controlled substances; miscellaneous drug paraphernalia; multiple cooking devices used to manufacture crack cocaine; two firearms and ammunition; and $14,800 in U.S. currency seized for forfeiture.

Tommi Chambers was charged with drugs possess controlled substance without prescription, cocaine sell, cocaine possess, drug equipment possess and/or use and drugs sell methamphetamine.

Leann Chambers was charged with cocaine sell, cocaine possess, drug equipment possess and/or use, marijuana possess not more than 20 grams and drugs sell possess structure/vehicle know sell drugs.

Hawkins was charged with cocaine possess, drug equipment possess and/or use and marijuana possess not more than 20 grams.

Baird was charged with drugs possess controlled substance without prescription, opium or derivative sell, drugs trafficking in hydrocodone 14 grams or more, marijuana possess over 20 grams and drugs produce possess structure/vehicle know drugs manufactured minor present.

Also charged in the operation was Antiowan Wiwo, 37, of 407 Chamonix Ave., Lehigh Acres. He faces charges of cocaine sell within 1,000 feet of specified area, drugs trafficking in fentanyl 4 grams or more, cocaine possess, drugs possess controlled substance without prescription, possession of weapon or ammo by convicted Florida felon, cocaine possess with intent to sell within 1,000 feet specified area and marijuana possess over 20 grams.

The Sheriff’s Office indicated that one other person of interest, Jacob Preston Darna, 35, is wanted.

“My message hasn’t changed — if you push poison on our streets, there’s only one place for you,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno, “and that’s jail.”
