Kindergarten pre-registration deadline Nov. 1
Less than three weeks remain in the 2nd Annual Kindergarten Pre-Registration period. The deadline to fill out the required forms early is Nov. 1.
Halfway through the pre-registration period, 542 students have signed up. Last year 950 students were registered early for kindergarten, with 778 by the half way point.
Parents must pre-register their children at the Student Enrollment Office inside the Lee County Public Education Center at 2855 Colonial Blvd., in Fort Myers. Enrollment specialists are available to assist parents from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The documents required to pre-register include:
* Physical exam (dated within the last year)
* Florida Certificate of Immunization
* Proof of address
* Original birth certificate
* Social Security Card (if available)
* Custody documents (if applicable)
Once pre-registered, a student number will be assigned. Parents are then advised to tour the elementary schools in their zone. A pre-printed application will be mailed in January allowing parents to go online and rank their schools in order of preference to finalize student enrollment. The first application period will be from Jan. 13 to Feb. 28, 2020.
Students entering kindergarten in August 2020 must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2020.
