CCPD: significant weather event in northwest Cape damages houses
This morning around 7, a significant weather event with high winds affected the northwestern part of the city, Cape Coral Police reported.
According to the CCPD report, there are no reports of injuries. At least a dozen homes were damaged (ranging from minor to significant damage) in the area surrounding the 1900 block of Northwest 26th Avenue.
The Cape Coral Fire Department has checked on residents in the area and the police department and other partner agencies are working in this area to assess damage and assisting with traffic issues and downed power lines.
The National Weather Service has not confirmed that this was a tornado, however, this information could change.
Residents are asked to please avoid the area if at all possible.
