Cape Coral resident Ryan Doyon, 29, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for one count of manslaughter with a firearm and four counts of discharging a firearm in public, according to a release from the State Attorney’s office.

Doyon was found guilty following a trial in Lee County in July.

The crime happened in Cape Coral in 2017. The defendant chased down a man who had knocked on his door and started shooting at him in a residential neighborhood at about 9:30 a.m. The victim was hit twice by bullets. The Cape Coral Police Department responded to the scene but the victim had already succumbed to the gunshot wounds.

Doyon also has a pending case for allegedly stalking an employee of the Cape Coral Police Department, the State Attorney’s Office reports.

Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner and Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller, both of the Homicide Unit, prosecuted the case.
