Second annual NAMIWalks to raise awareness of mental illness
More than 1,000 people are expected to gather in downtown Fort Myers at Centennial Park and walk across the Fort Myers bridge to raise awareness for mental health issues and help to erase the stigma surrounding mental illness this Saturday.
NAMIWalks 2019 will take place from 5-9 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Centennial Park Pavilion in downtown Fort Myers
The actual walk will begin at 7 p.m.
So far, nearly $50,000 has been raised for the cause and will go directly to helping children and families who are dealing with mental illness.
Proceeds from the event support NAMI LCH’s mission “to improve the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education, and advocacy.” .
The event is presented by NAMI Lee, Charlotte and Hendry Counties.
The second Annual 5k NAMIWalks and Festival is Title Sponsored by Park Royal Hospital and Nationally Sponsored by Alkermes.
All funds raised support NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) in Southwest Florida.

NAMI Lee, Charlotte and Hendry Counties raises awareness and provides essential education, advocacy and support group programs for people in our community living with mental illness and their loved ones.
