Registration open for first Oasis High 5K Color Run/Walk
The community is invited to participate in the Oasis High School inaugural 5K Color Run/Walk next month on the campus to raise money for the athletics department.
The run/walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 12. The race, which will begin at 8 a.m., will take participants around the three campuses at 3519 Oasis Blvd. Registration is $30 for adults, $15 for students and free for children 5 and younger with a paid adult. Registration can be done at www.eventbrite.com/e/oasis-high-school-5k-color-walkrun-tickets-70509334317.
The deadline to register is Oct. 5, so every participant is guaranteed a T-shirt.
“We wanted to do something different. This year we wanted to something more (to do with) athletics,” Oasis Booster Club Treasurer Kathryn Gomez said.
As individuals run, or walk the 5K, color will be thrown on them. Timed Events will showcase the Color Run/Walk on YouTube, so if someone is an avid 5K runner they will be able to see their time.
“We will have medals at the end, all the same medals,” Gomez said.
The event will also feature different activities during the route, as well as photo opportunities.
Money raised during the event will go towards building a football, track and baseball field behind the high school.
“We are trying to raise money for the athletics, so they can stay at home without having to rent a bus to go to the Storm field. We usually play at the Storm field, but we have to pay a bus to take them there every time,” Gomez said.
