Death investigation under way
A death investigation in the wake of an altercation between an off-duty Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy and his son is continuing, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
CCPD officers arrived at a residence in the 600 block of S.E. 23rd St. around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after a woman left her home and called police from a neighbor’s house, saying there was an argument between her son — the deputy — and her grandson — the deputy’s son, a CCPD release issued Wednesday states.
CCPD said when officers entered the home, the grandson was unresponsive and not breathing, and that all lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
The deputy was taken to the CCPD Police Station to be interviewed.
The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy, toxicology report and forensic evidence are all pending.
The LCSO was notified of the death investigation
