Cape police looking for suspect, car stolen in burglary
On Wednesday, May 22, around 4 p.m., Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service on Southwest 33rd Terrace in reference to a burglary. A neighbor had noticed the screen door on the front door of a home open, a broken window in the rear and two window screens removed.
Upon arrival, CCPD officers cleared the scene and reported that the front door of the home was found ajar, a 52-inch TV and clothes in the master bedroom had been set on fire and a Mazda convertible that was stored in the garage was missing.
According to a report from the CCPD, Det. Kurt Grau of the Property Crimes Unit arrived on scene and took over the investigation. Cape Police forensics officers arrived to process the scene, and a fire inspector with the Cape Coral Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall came to the scene to investigate.
The vehicle the suspect(s) took is a red 1997 Mazda convertible 2-door with the first three letters of the Florida tag being JCV. The suspect(s) is wanted for burglary to a residence, grand theft auto and arson.
