Cape Coral Police are continuing to investigate a serious injury crash that sent four to the hospital Thursday.

According to the police report, on April 25 at around 12:17 p.m., officers responded to a call for service in reference to a two-vehicle traffic crash at the 500 block of Hancock Bridge Parkway, E.

Police said the accident involved a silver, 2001 Honda Accord, driven by Tiana Lassalle, 18, which was traveling west on Hancock Bridge Parkway in the outside lane, and a black, 2014 Dodge Journey, driven by Marli Sollitto, 19, traveling west in the inside lane. The two vehicles were side by side.

The accident occurred when Accord veered to the left into the path of the Journey. The driver’s side rear quarter of the Accord struck the passenger side front quarter of the Journey, causing the Accord to rotate counterclockwise in front of the Journey. The two vehicles struck the curb of the median in a “T-bone” formation, police said, with the Journey impacting the driver’s side door.

The passenger side of the Accord then struck two trees in the median simultaneously, climbing the fallen trees and allowing the Journey to continue heading west underneath the Accord. The Accord came to final rest positioned on top of the hood and driver’s compartment of the Journey.

Police reported that during the accident, a passenger in the Accord, Walter Caboa, 19, was ejected from the vehicle, coming to final rest on the shoulder south of the eastbound lanes of Hancock Bridge Parkway. He suffered serious injuries, police said, and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital

Lassalle suffered life-threatening injuries and was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial.

Sollitto and a 17-year-old female passenger in her vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries were also transported to Lee Memorial.

This traffic crash is still under investigation, and officers reported alcohol/drugs may have been a factor in the accident.
