Just over a year after breaking ground, the Southeast 47th Terrace Streetscape project is set to have its grand opening.

Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 4 p.m., a dedication ceremony will be held at the corner of Southeast 47th Terrance and Southeast 10th Place.

“The dedication will be a celebration of the re-opening and new Streetscape of SE 47th Terrace. We want everyone to know that the Streetscape project is complete and the street is open to the surrounding businesses in South Cape,” said Cape Coral spokesperson, Marueen Buice.

A plaque will be unveiled to commemorate the project at the event.

City Manager John Szerlag and Cape Coral Mayor Joe Coviello are expected to be in attendance and address the completion of the project, according to officials.

The Parks and Recreation Department will also be in attendance and representatives of all the businesses along Southeast 47th Terrace are invited to attend.

The event is open to the public as well.

The project began in January 2018 to improve conditions along the heavily business-populated street.

Sidewalks have been extended to promote pedestrian use, along with reducing the width of the street to slow down traffic in the area.
