Section of Chiquita Boulevard closed temporarily
Chiquita Boulevard is closed between Southwest 5th Street and Southwest 1st Terrace. According to an announcement from the city of Cape Coral, the portion of the road is closed because contractors are making underground repairs on Chiquita Boulevard at Southwest 4th Street.
Southbound and northbound traffic will be detoured via Southwest 5th Street to Southwest 15th Place and Southwest 1st Terrace (see attached map).
The city reports that the detours may remain in place through the first week of January 2019 and are subject to change due to underground conditions, inclement weather and availability of materials.
Motorists should seek alternate routes and allow extra travel time to avoid delays. The detour route is marked with signage.
