Lee County to declare state of emergency to address algal blooms

1 min read

Chairman Cecil Pendergrass will convene an emergency meeting of the Lee Board of County Commissioners on Friday to declare a State of Local Emergency.

The declaration will allow Lee County to utilize the Florida Harmful Algal Bloom Management Grant Program to hire a vendor already under contract with the state to address areas with the highest concentration of blue-green algae.

The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at 2201 Second Street, Fort Myers, the Administration East Building, 1st Floor Conference Room 118.

The meeting is open to the public.
