Crash into Cape home results in DUI charges
A Fort Myers man who crashed the vehicle he was driving into a Cape Coral home Sunday has been charged with DUI.
Jeffrey Michael Simpson, 39, of 4540 Winkler Avenue, was charged with DUI and damage property, hit and run/leave scene of a crash involve damage property, and DUI unlawful blood alcohol .15 or higher or with person under 18.
He remained in the Lee County Jail Tuesday afternoon
The single-car crash occurred Dec. 10 at approximately 6:45 a.m.
“After speaking with witnesses at the scene and investigating the traffic crash, it was determined that Simpson had been speeding on Eldorado Parkway and when the road ended was forced to turn into a driveway. Simpson’s vehicle struck a parked car and then struck the residence, hitting the garage,” a release from the Cape Coral Police Department states. “In addition to the damage done to the parked car in the driveway and the garage itself, the impact with the garage caused a large tool chest to fall onto and damage an antique Corvette stored inside. Simpson then reversed and attempted to leave the crash scene before getting his vehicle stuck. Further investigation determined Simpson was driving under the influence, and he was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail after receiving medical attention.”
