Dixie Roadhouse to host ‘Boots & Bingo’ event
All children with life-threatening illnesses should be entitled to do something or meet someone they’ve always wanted to do or meet.
That’s why Make-A-Wish Southern Florida has teamed up with one of Cape Coral’s biggest, givingest nightclubs to make these kids’ wishes come true.
Make-A-Wish Southern Florida will host a Bingo & Boots event on Saturday, July 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dixie Roadhouse, 1023 SE 47th Terrace in Cape Coral.
Lesley Colantonio, senior events coordinator at Make-A-Wish, said they were looking to do an event to promote what they do and Dixie Roadhouse, with its location and ability to hold a lot of people, came to mind.
“They were excited to partner with us and help us raise funds to grant the wishes of the 11 kids we have waiting in Cape Coral,” Colantonio said.
Kathy Vary, event planner at Dixie Roadhouse, which has done countless charity events over the years, said they would donate the venue, the employees, the chairs and a discount on the prime-rib dinner buffet.
“We do a lot of fundraisers here. We used to give away the prime-rib buffet when we had the 4 a.m. license, but money became tighter,” Vary said. “We want their event to be as successful as possible.”
Colantonio said she would like to raise funds for at least two wishes. The most popular of which include trips to Disney, with two kids who wish they could see snow and another who wants to go snorkeling in Australia.
The fundraising event will include bingo, a prime rib dinner buffet, and a silent auction, cash bar and raffle. All Make-A-Wish guests 21 and over who attend the Bingo & Boots event may stay and enjoy the evening at Dixie Roadhouse for free. Guests will also have access to the venue’s VIP area.
“They’ve been real excited. They’ve been promoting it and we have on social media and the calendar,” Colantonio said. “We’ve been doing a lot to get it promoted.”
Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased online at www.makeawishtickets.org. Attendees are asked make reservations by Wednesday
Sponsors helping to make this event possible include Dixie Roadhouse and VITAS Healthcare. Sponsorships are still available starting at $250; if interested in a sponsorship, please contact Colantonio at 992-9474, ext. 22.
