Arrest made in Cornwallis shooting death

A Cape Coral man has been charged with second degree murder in the death a man found shot outside a home on Cornwallis Parkway Monday morning.

Ryan Doyon, 27, was arrested after Cape Coral Police, responding to report of shots fired at his home at 1914 Cornwallis Parkway, found a white male suffering from gunshot wounds in front of the property.

The incident apparently began inside the home shortly before 9:35 a.m. and then spilled outside, according to the CCPD, which held a 5 p.m. press conference. The male, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Doyon was place under was arrest Monday afternoon after investigators determined they has probable cause to charge him, police said.

Police are not aware of any prior relationship or contact between the two men.

The deceased has been identified but notification of next-of-kin has not yet been made, CCPD officials said.
