South Cape Craft Beer Trolley Event tickets going fast

4 min read

Tickets are going fast for the South Cape’s first trolley run centered around craft brews.

Hosted by the South Cape Hospitality and Entertainment Associations, the South Cape Craft Beer Trolley Event will take place on Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. in the downtown area. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 day of and include appetizer and craft beer samples at the 12 participating venues.

“Craft beer has grown so exponentially in the United States,” Donna Meola, executive director of SCHEA, said. “We, alone, in the South Cape have three craft beer places.”

“So we thought this would be a good time to bring out this event,” she added.

Tickets can be purchased at the venues or online at: www.eventbrite.com/.

Designated Driver tickets are also available for $15 in advance only at BackStreets Sports Bar. DD ticket holders get to enjoy the appetizers at each of the venues, as well as non-alcoholic drinks.

Because it is a new event, SCHEA is selling only 600 tickets.

“It looks like we’re going to be close to selling out,” Meola said on Thursday.

She encouraged those interested in attending to buy their tickets quickly.

Some of the craft beers to be featured are Keybilly Island Ale, Craft Nitro Beer, Channel Marker IPA and Key West Sunset Ale, as well as High 5 IPA and Snook Bite IPA, which are Fort Myers-based.

“Every one of them is a different craft beer from different breweries,” Meola said.

Big Blue Brewing will highlight its American Pale Ale, while the Cape Coral Brewing Company will have a couple on the menu – Yacht Club Cream Ale, Burrowing Owl Brown Ale and Gongoozler.

“A lot of people don’t know craft beer,” she said. “It’s trying and sampling things.”

Some of the appetizers vary from gator chili and coconut shrimp, to spicy pulled pork sliders and Italian meatballs. There are mac ‘n’ cheese bites and jalapeno poppers, even Mom’s Date Nut Bread.

One venue is serving Calamarimorada – calamari renamed to go with its Islamorada brew.

Meola noted that every venue picks its own appetizer.

“It’s either something that they’re known for or something that they think goes well with the craft beer they are serving,” she said.

“There’s a wide range of samples to make sure that we please every palate,” Meola added.

Each attendee will receive a passport that they can get stamped at the venues. Once they have their entire passport stamped, they turn it in at any of the participating locations or to a trolley hostess.

The winner will receive a 24-hour pass for two to stay and play in the South Cape.

“We are giving away a night at the Dolphin Key Resort, along with gift certificates for things to do throughout the day,” she said, adding that the prize is valued at a couple of hundred dollars.

The winner gets to pick the day.

“It’s just a fun stay in the South Cape,” Meola said.

Trivia games on the trolleys provide another shot at winning goodies.

“We have keychains and koozies – gift cards from each participating location,” she said.

There are also T-shirts and baseball caps.

“It’s fun swag kind-of-stuff to win on the trolleys,” Meola said.

A photo booth will be set up in the lobby of the Dolphin Key Resort.

“We decorate the photo booth with the theme,” she said.

Check-in booths will be open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Club Square and Big John Plaza. Late check-in will available after 7:30 in the lobby of the Dolphin Key Resort or outside of the Dixie Roadhouse.

With the snowbirds now heading north, it is a chance for year-round neighbors to hang out.

“It’s just something that going to be fun and different in the South Cape,” Meola said.
