Cape Coral gears up for its final Bike Night
The city will host its final Cape Bike Night of the 2016-17 season on Saturday night.
Cape Bike Night will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. along Southeast 47th Terrace in the South Cape. Hosted by the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department, it will feature live entertainment on two different stages, motorcycle activities and vendors specializing in motorcycle gear and accessories.
“It’s one of our most popular South Cape events,” Special Events Coordinator Todd King said.
“It’s motorcycles, rock ‘n’ roll and lots of fun,” he added.
The festivities are free and open to the public.
King estimated that about 15,000 to 18,000 people attend each one.
“It’s been a phenomenal season, and the event continues to grow,” he said. “I think the establishments on (Southeast) 47th Terrace enjoy the city putting on these events.”
There will be two stages set up, with a total of four bands performing.
“We box the whole event in with those two entertainment stages,” King said.
The first stage, called the Event Field Stage, will be at Southeast Eighth Court and Southeast 47th Terrace. It will showcase New York Front from 6 to 7:30 p.m., then Smack Daddy at 8 p.m.
“It’s one of the premier bands we hire each year,” he said of Smack Daddy.
The second stage will be outside of the Dixie Roadhouse, on Southeast 11th Place. Trey Colton will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by an ’80s tribute rock band called Lazy Bonez at 8:30 p.m.
“Lazy Bonez is an amazing classic rock band,” King said.
“The bands are going to be amazing,” he added.
The Harley Davidson Slow Bike Race Arena will offer attendees a chance to participate in activities, like the slow bike races at 7:30 p.m. With runs for men and women, the races test slow rider skills.
“Riders come in and see how slow they can go, head-to-hear with other bikes,” King said.
The winner receives a $100 gift card to Six Bends Harley-Davidson.
“That’s just keeping their balance on their bikes,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun.”
It is free to sign up, with registration taking place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the music and activities, there will be a multitude of vendors on site. In the past, the vendors have sold everything from motorcycle clothing, to accessories and enhancements for bikes.
“It’s all kinds of stuff, but primarily it’s motorcycle-focused,” King said. “From unique leather outfits and sunglasses, to patches and saddlebags – and special things for motorcycles, like lights.”
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
He urged the public to come on out.
“Connect with the community,” King said.
“I can’t imagine a better place to ride your bike,” he added.
