Commemorative Rockin’ for Christine benefit to raise funds for ACT
A very special dedication and benefit in the name of a former Cape Coral resident slain in a double homicide in New Hampshire will be held at BackStreets, Cape Coral, Sunday beginning at 1.
As Dana Caldwell, lead organizer of the event said, “On Jan. 28, Christine Sullivan was taken away from us. This beautiful, free-spirited woman did so much for this community – she organized benefits and spent a great deal of her time helping others. She left behind many fond memories and broken hearts. Join us as we celebrate Christine’s life and lend help to a great cause! ALL monies raised from auction and raffle items will be donated to Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Inc. (ACT). ACT provides free services to victims of domestic violence and their children through a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, emergency shelter, counseling, forensic examinations and more. The local center provides services to Lee, Glades and Hendry counties.”
According to the benefit’s lead coordinator, plans have been coming along very well – particularly with donations for the many raffles and silent auctions.
“We’ve got everything from resort stays to musical instruments to signed sports memorabilia to golf, wakeboarding, etc., activities, baskets for children, men and women and a gazillion other things I cannot think of at the moment!”
Silent auctions will run all day, finishing up at 7 p.m. Live raffles will be selected throughout the day, including themed package prizes and more.
Talented local musicians lending their support will perform all day long. Sit back and relax to acoustic solos and duos and get on your feet to dance with great bands. Enjoy many great genres of music that day, with the full schedule of live music as follows:
Bear 1 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Myth 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.
Moonchild 3 to 3:45 p.m.
Stolen Fruit 4 to 4:45 p.m.
Zen 5 to 5:15 p.m.
Backlash 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

Acoustic Fire Duo 7:30 to 7:45 p.m.
Bite the Bullet 8 to 8:45 p.m.
The Clanton Gang 9 to 9:45 p.m.
Weather permitting, a lantern release will take place around dusk.
“All of the profits from the sales tables and 100 percent of the money raised on auction/raffle items goes directly to ACT. All of the performers are donating their time,” Caldwell said.
Food and drink specials hosted by BackStreets specifically for the benefit will include:
