Gulf Coast Village: $31 million expansion nears opening
Palmview, the newly constructed 128-unit assisted living and memory support expansion at Gulf Coast Village, is accepting reservations now for seniors wanting to move in when the building opens in March.
Through March, the Palmview Premier Program allows new residents to lock in rates through January 2019. Seniors and their families interested in learning about Palmview living options and attending a seminar on Feb. 22 are asked to call 239-217-4224.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to bring a state-of-the-art assisted living product to the Cape Coral market,” said Kevin Ahmadi, Gulf Coast Village executive director. “Palmview will set the standard for all assisted living facilities.”
Palmview was built on 36 acres adjacent to Gulf Coast Village on the south side. The $31 million facility on Santa Barbara Boulevard was 2-1/2 years in the planning and just finishing up 18 months of construction. It’s the first phase of a two-phase project.
“We are repositioning our campus,” said Ahmadi. “Phase two is a $5.9 million renovation to convert existing assisted living into additional skilled nursing units. Our skilled nursing units will go from 85 to 105.”
Palmview features assisted living units for residents who also enjoy spacious, well-appointed one- or two-bedroom units with kitchens with modern appliances, walk-in closets some with washer/dryers, cooktops, dishwashers and smart TVs with free wi-fi. Memory care units offer private suites with full baths. There is a community media room for entertaining, screens for videos and movies, six dining rooms and several recreational areas.
“The supportive and well-trained staff, large and impressive residences, new and expanded amenities and programs and enhanced access to healthcare differentiates Palmview from other Communities,” said Ahmadi. “The entire community has so much to offer, from Starbucks to movie theaters to incredible dining venues and even a community garden, there is much for residents to enjoy.”
Gulf Coast Village was founded more than 25 years ago as a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Cape Coral. Officials said residents there enjoy an active independent lifestyle while taking advantage of many services and amenities focused on living well. Gulf Coast Village also offers the full spectrum of care from independent to assisted living, specialized memory support, skilled nursing, outpatient services and home health care.
Administrators presented their phase one expansion project to City Council in June 2015 and was unanimously approved. The 139,980-square foot Palmview broke ground in October 2015.
It contains a 10,000-square foot adult day care facility, thrift store and health care center in addition to 80 assisted living and 48 memory support units.
Gulf Coast Village employs a staff of more than 420 people for their 157 independent living, 51 assisted living, 24 memory support beds and 85 skilled nursing beds.
It will add another 50 full-time jobs when Palmview is fully staffed and the renovation project is complete.
Being a not-for-profit corporation, Gulf Coast Village was eligible to tap into the city’s Health Facilities Authority tax-free bond financing for the Palmview expansion.
