1 min read

Authorities are searching for a hit-and run driver who struck a Cape Coral motorist.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Kenneth John Roberts, 46, was driving a moped east over the Midpoint Bridge in the outside lane Saturday. At 6:15 a.m., the moped was rear-ended by a white vehicle, possibly a Dodge Intrepid or Nissan Maxima, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The vehicle fled the scene and was last seen headed south on Summerlin Road.

Roberts sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. Officials reported on Tuesday that he had been discharged from the hospital.

The moped that Roberts was driving was blue in color. According the FHP, the hit-and-run vehicle should have blue paint transfer to its front end from hitting the moped, along with some damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact FHP Trooper S. Rongish at 239-344-1730.
