Cape Coral man dies in single-vehicle crash on I-75

A Cape Coral man lost control of a truck over the weekend and sustained fatal injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Timothy Brian Williams, 46, was driving a Chevrolet Avalanche north on Interstate 75 on Saturday.

At about 1 a.m., he lost control of the truck in Charlotte County, near mile marker 168, and it rotated counter-clockwise out of the inside lane.

The truck traveled into the inside emergency lane before sliding onto the grass median.

Sliding sideways into heavy vegetation, the truck overturned and came to an uncontrolled final stop, facing upright. According to the FHP, Williams was ejected from the truck during its movements.

He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

According to the FHP, the accident was discovered at 7 a.m.

Results are pending on whether the crash is alcohol or drug related.
