The Cape Coral Civic Association is hoping to garner support for an official “Civic education day” in the Cape.

The initiative will be introduced at the general meeting to be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Cape Coral Yacht Club.

“We’re hoping to start something here in the Cape where one day each year our government, our citizens, our city staff, our schools, businesses and our public safety personnel come together annually to learn about good civics and what makes our city go ’round and do so in a fun way!,” organizers said in a meeting notice. “Come out and show your support to help us and others already signing on to get it off the ground! We anticipate having administrators from our charter school system, student government, elected officials, city staff, public safety personnel, members of our city’s business community and citizens. The more all of us and our children can learn about the ‘nuts and bolts’ of how our city works, the more ability we will have to make changes for the better!”
