Four men accused of fatally shooting a Cape Coral man have been indicted on charges.

The State Attorney’s Office 20th Judicial Circuit reported today that Rodney Charles, 18, Mariano St. Louis, 23, Ivan Michael Webb II, 23, and Parker David Zapata, 19, are each charged with one count of first-degree murder and attempted robbery with a firearm in the death of Dayvin Kendall Johnson, 39.

All four made their first appearance in the Lee County Court this morning.

They are all being held on no bond.

Arraignments for each of them have been scheduled for Oct. 10.

At 1:22 a.m. Aug. 22, Cape police responded to a suspicious circumstances call at 1216 N.E. 23rd Terrace. Officials reported that officers found Johnson dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Johnson’s mother said her son had run into the home stating that he had been shot.

According to Cape police officials, the homicide was the result of a drug deal gone bad. Charles, of 1927 Hill Ave., Fort Myers, St. Louis, a then-transient, Webb, of 1105 S.E. 26th Terrace, and Zapata, of 2221 N.E. 15th Lane, had gone to Johnson’s house with the intent of robbing Johnson of marijuana.

Webb and Parker remained in the car, while St. Louis and Charles, who was armed with a .22 rifle, went to the residence. There was a confrontation between the two and Johnson, police reported.

Johnson ran and was reportedly shot outside of the home by Charles.

St. Louis entered the home with the intent to steal marijuana, according to officials. The suspects then fled the scene and got rid of the gun in a wooded area in Matlacha. Police later recovered the gun.
