Brewtober Festival hits Cape Coral Saturday
Bring on the local craft brews this weekend at the inaugural Cape Coral Brewtober Festival.
Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral, the event will be held on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sun Splash Family Waterpark. The festival will feature almost 30 breweries, live entertainment from two Southwest Florida bands and a handful of food vendors serving up a variety of tasty items.
Admission is free; attendees can purchase tickets for unlimited or individual tastings.
“It’s free to get in,” Annette Siner, the chamber’s special events director, said.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Relay for Life of Cape Coral.
She noted that chamber members have been involved in Relay for Life over the years.
“It’s still a passion of ours at the chamber,” Siner said. “We still want to give back to the event.”
At the festival, individual 4-ounce tastings will be available for $4 or enjoy six for $20.
Those looking for full access to unlimited tastings can purchase the All Access Pass. The tickets are $35 in advance or $40 day of. The deadline to purchase the advance tickets is Saturday at 10 a.m.
“We have 28 breweries that are going to be there,” she said.
Each will be serving up two crafted brews, except for the Point Ybel Brewing Company. Siner explained that Point Ybel will have its Captiva Cream Ale, Snook Bite IPA and a surprise.
“We’re hoping for a sour,” she said.
There is the Fort Myers Brewing Company’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter, Cremation and Bag O’ Bones by Bury Me Brewing, and Blue Point Brewing Company’s Toasted Lager and Oktoberfest.
“There’s going to be a couple of pumpkin beers, there’s a couple of sours,” Siner said.
“There’s going to be a little bit of everything out there,” she added.
The Fort Myers-based Hanger 41 Brew Club will also be available to answer questions.
“We’re going to have some homebrewers out there,” Siner said.
The local bands Rocker and Electric Lipstick will entertain the crowd.
“They’re great bands doing ’80s and ’90s music,” she said.
Chairs and blankets are recommended, however, coolers and pets are prohibited.
Attendees can enter a cornhole competition for $25 per two-person team.
Siner noted that the winning team will receive half of the money.
“We are also going to be giving away a brew with the brewmaster,” she said.
The winner of the prize drawing will have the opportunity to take part in the creation of a new Palm City Brewing beer, having a hand in the entire process from start to finish, according to Siner.
Bare Naked BBQ and Smokehouse and Currie’s Smokin’ Hot BBQ will be serving up tasty dishes, along with Authentic Maine Lobster Bakes. Liberty Concessions will offer typical festival fare.
“A lot of these foods pair really well with all the different kinds of beers,” she said.
Organizers encouraged the public to check out the event.
“If they like beer, they’re going to get samples of all our local craft beer,” Siner said.
