Four rescued after boat rolls over off Fort Myers Beach
Four boaters were ejected into the water near Fort Myers Beach Saturday after their 28-foot Nor-Tec rolled over due to what officials say was “operator error.”
All four were helped out of the water by nearby boaters. Two of the passengers had non-life threatening injuries.
Upon arrival, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit took those rescued to the Coast Guard Station on Fort Myers Beach to meet with EMS. The two who were hurt were transported by ambulance to the Lee Memorial Hospital.
“The cause of the rollover was determined to be operator error as no other watercraft or obstruction in the water was involved,” officials said in a release.
Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission was the lead agency on the crash.
The overturned Nor-Tec was recovered without further incident.
