Man recovering from injuries, discharged from Lee Memorial
A Cape Coral driver has been discharged from a hospital after a motorcycle T-boned his truck.
As of Tuesday, Jerred Daniel Crews, 29, of 1817 N.E. 27th Terrace, had been released from Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken after a March 31 crash at State Road 82 and Flint Drive, officials said.
The driver of the motorcycle, Jeffrey Lynn Dennis, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported that Crews was driving a Ford F150 northbound on Flint on March 31 and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of 82. Dennis, of 440 San Bernardino St., North Fort Myers, was driving a Kawasaki ZX1000 east on 82 at a high rate of speed at the same time.
After stopping, Crews tried to cross the eastbound lanes of 82 and traveled into Dennis’ path.
The front of the motorcycle collided into the left side of the truck, according to the LCSO. Dennis was ejected from the Kawasaki, while Crews was bumped from his driver’s seat into the passenger’s seat.
Deputies noted that Dennis attempted to utilize his brakes and skidded about 217 feet.
He was traveling an estimated 75 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to a report.
Dennis sustained fatal injuries. Crews was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The LCSO reported that the investigation determined Dennis was at fault for speeding.
