Cape Coral’s mobile payment app available for boat trailer parking
Paying the $10 daily fee to park a boat trailer at Cape Coral’s five public boat ramps is a lot easier thanks to the city’s partnership with Passport, a leading provider of mobile payments in parking and transit. Boaters are able to pay to park from their smartphone, tablet or computer using a modern “app” technology and bypass the parking meter. The city introduced the new technology in 2015, which is being used at the Yacht Club Community Park, Rosen Park, Horton Park, BMX Boat Ramp and Burnt Store Boat Ramp.
The Passport Parking app is free to download from the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play. Boaters also can manage their parking through the Passport mobile web application, which is accessible from any device with an Internet connection. If a boater does not have a smartphone, a local phone number is available on signage at the boat ramps where users can call and register. While the new Passport program is the primary payment method, the old envelope system will continue to be available “just in case.”
Cape Coral citizens who prefer to purchase a $50 annual boat trailer parking pass instead of paying the $10 daily parking fee can buy the annual passes at the Yacht Club and the Parks & Recreation counter in City Hall.
