Beach businesses should be on the lookout for stolen money orders

On July 2, 2015, at 2:10 a.m., the Fort Myers Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the 7-11 located at 2275 Winkler Avenue. Three (3) employees were working inside the business when the suspect entered the store armed with a handgun. The suspect ordered one employee to open the cash register and ordered the second employee to open another register containing money orders. The suspect demanded twenty five (25) money orders from the employee at the second register. The suspect then ordered all three employees to the back of the store while the money orders were printing. In all, the suspect left the store with twenty four (24) money orders valued at $500.00 each.
The suspect was described as being a Hispanic male, approximately 25 years of age, 5’09” tall, wearing all black clothing, a tan hat, glasses and a black bandana covering his mouth. The suspect was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun and fled the store on foot westbound.
Police are also warning area business to be on the lookout for the stolen money orders taken during the robbery. The serial numbers to each money order is listed below.

Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the theft suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
