Fourth of July event to close Cape Coral Bridge

Cape Coral’s Red, White and BOOM! celebration will close the Cape Coral Bridge from 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 4, through 3 a.m. Sunday, July 5.

Motorists are encouraged to use the Midpoint Memorial Bridge or the U.S. 41 and Business 41 bridges as alternate routes. Lee County Department of Transportation has placed message boards out for motorists and will keep them in place through the holiday and the closing.

The CenturyLink Freedom 5K will be held Independence Day. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., and the race starts is 7:30 a.m. Then the city celebrates with an event beginning at 5 p.m. at the foot of the Cape Coral Bridge, followed by fireworks around 9:30 p.m.
