Rescued Cape Coral canal bald eagle makes full recovery at CROW
The bald eagle rescued from a Cape Coral canal April 28 by residents, the FWC and the Cape Coral Fire Department has made a full recovery and is scheduled to be released back out into the wild today, May 15.
The almost three-week recovery came via the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel. After being rescued out of the water, the bald eagle (dubbed #15-1148) was examined and did not reveal any broken bones or internal injuries.
It was given strict cage rest and started eating well early in the process. The bald eagle was moved to a large flight enclosure about a week later, where it could fly, perch and build his strength back up.
The release will be held just off where it was found near 2403 SE 16th Street in Cape Coral.
