Police seek info on shooting that injured two
Cape Coral Police are investigating a weekend shooting that sent two people to the hospital with “non-life threatening” gunshot wounds.
The investigation began at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday morning after multiple callers reported “shots heard” in the area of 1100 Cape Coral Parkway W.
Arriving officers were flagged down and led to a duplex at 4729 SW 11 Ct.
“There, officers found two subjects with gunshot wounds which were later determined to be non-life-threatening,” a prepared statement from the Cape Coral Police Department states. “According to the subjects on the scene, 4 masked men entered the screened in lanai of this duplex and an altercation ensued. During the altercation, numerous shots were fired.”
Patrol, K9, and LCSO Aviation arrived and a perimeter was set up as witnesses told officers they saw people running westbound from the residence toward a nearby daycare.
“Police K9s tracked a scent that ended in the parking lot where tire marks were found,” the release states.
Detectives and Forensics responded to the scenes.
A search warrant has been served on the residence and detectives are continuing to work this case.
“Preliminary information in this case leads investigators to believe that this was not a random incident,” officials said.
