22 Lee schools earn Five Star School Award
Twenty-two Lee County schools have earned the Florida Department of Education’s Five Star School Award.
This symbol of achievement recognizes schools that have demonstrated exemplary community involvement, according to a statement from the School District of Lee County.
To qualify for this award, a school must achieve 100 percent of the required criteria and maintain a portfolio that documents the achievement of criterion in five areas: Community/Business Partnership; Family Involvement; Volunteers; Student Community Service; and, the School Advisory Council. The Lee County schools earning this honor for 2014 are:

North Fort Myers High
Caloosa Middle
Orangewood Elementary
Cape Elementary
Patriot Elementary
Challenger Middle
San Carlos Park Elementary
Cypress Lake High

Diplomat Middle
Three Oaks Elementary
Harns Marsh Elementary
Three Oaks Middle
Ida S. Baker High
Trafalgar Elementary
J. Colin English Elementary

Mariner Middle
Villas Elementary
A former Florida Commissioner of Education and the Commissioner’s Community Involvement Council established the Five Star School Award in 1994 to recognize the vital role that community involvement plays in student success. Schools achieving this designation will receive the Florida Department of Education’s highest award for community involvement. The schools listed above will be honored at this evening’s (Wednesday’s) School Board meeting.
