Auditions for Stars of Tomorrow Scholarship Program 2014 set for Oct. 11

The Cape Coral Council for Arts and Humanities Inc. will again celebrate the culture and the talented youth of Southwest Florida by sponsoring the Stars of Tomorrow Scholarship Program 2014 at the Cultural Park Theater in Cape Coral.

Those interested in auditioning for the scholarship program can pick up applications at Cultural Park Theater, 518 Cultural Park Blvd., Cape Coral. Auditions will be held Saturday, Oct. 11. All students must call for a time for their audition at 239-772-8180. Private auditions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A panel of five qualified judges will judge this year’s scholarships. Students in elementary, middle, high and first year college students are eligible in the categories of vocal, drama, dance and instrumental. Awards will be given in each age group and in each category.

Students chosen for competition will appear at public presentations Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m.

Winners will perform and receive their awards at the command performance Sunday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m.

According to June Sommerfield, president of the Council for Arts and Humanities, this is the 23rd year of this celebration of the arts in Cape Coral. The program, she said, is designated to encourage the youth of the community in the performing arts, as a step in positive character development for their future.
