Updated: Man suspected of robbing bank apprehended

Fort Myers police have apprehended a Fort Myers man in the early morning robbery at the Bank of America branch on Winkler Road.
Roy Keefer Gordon, 23, of Fort Myers is currently being interviewed by detectives and will be charged with robbery, Fort Myers police said Thursday afternoon.
Officers responding to the incident at the Bank of America at 2850 Winkler Avenue at 9:43 a.m. were told a black male dressed as a woman had entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The man fled the business on a bicycle with an unknown amount of cash.
A follow up investigation by detectives and uniformed officers quickly led to 3721 Metro Parkway, Apartment 4106 where Gordon was apprehended, officials said, adding detectives located items inside the vacant apartment linking Gordon to the crime.
“We are extremely thankful this case quickly came to a close”, said Det. Sergeant Shawn Yates in a prepared statement issued by the department.

Police are searching for a man who held up a bank on Winkler Avenue in Fort Myers Thursday, dressed as a woman.
On Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 9:43 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a robbery at the Bank of America at 2850 Winkler Avenue at 9:43 a.m.
Arriving officers were told a black male dressed as a womanhad entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The man fled the business on a bicycle with an unknown amount of cash.
The investigation and search for the suspect is under way. The suspect is further described as having a thin build and approximately 25-30 years of age. He was wearing a long black wig, large sunglasses, and carried a purse.
