A Cape Coral driver who crashed after losing control of a semitrailer last week has died.

Earlier that morning, Boger was traveling east on Pine Island Road in the inside lane, officials reported. At 12:28 a.m., just west of U.S. 41, he lost control of the truck for unknown reasons.

According to the FHP, the semitrailer began to rotate counter clockwise, traveling onto the grass median. The side of it collided into a sign and a tree, then it overturned and hit a second tree.

Officials reported that Boger was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.
