Pedestrian struck by vehicle recovering at local hospital
A pedestrian is improving at a hospital after being struck by a Cape Coral motorist last month.
Steven Ciriaco, 44, of Bonita Springs, was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken following the accident on McGregor Boulevard, near San Carlos Boulevard.
At about 6:45 p.m. Dec. 19, Ciriaco was headed south on McGregor in the westbound lanes as a Volvo C70 was traveling east on McGregor, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Ciriaco reportedly failed to notice the Volvo and walked into the path of the vehicle.
The FHP reported that the front of the Volvo struck Ciriaco and he came to rest on the median.
Ciriaco was transported to the hospital.
The driver of the Volvo, Carolan Mahr, 58, of the Cape, was not injured in the accident.
It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, according to FHP officials.
