A Cape Coral motorcyclist remained hospitalized Tuesday after crashing into the side of a car.

Shawn M. O’Brien, 40, of 2116 N.W. 24th Ave., was listed in fair condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken Monday following the accident at Burnt Store Road and Ceitus Parkway.

At about 5:33 p.m., O’Brien was headed north on Burnt Store on a Harley Davidson when a southbound Chevrolet Cavalier attempted to turn left onto Ceitus in front of his motorcycle, according to police.

Unable to stop, O’Brien collided into the passenger’s side of the vehicle and was ejected.

O’Brien sustained multiple life-threatening injuries and was trauma-alerted to the hospital.

Police reported that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Cavalier, Dawn-Marie Eva Frieder, 35, of 4538 N.W. 36th Place, and the front seat passenger, a 14-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene by EMS.

A second passenger in the vehicle, an 11-year-old girl, was reportedly not injured in the crash.

According to police, neither alcohol nor drugs played a factor in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
