A Lee County grand jury indicted three people Thursday in the recent murder of a Cape Coral man.

Jurors officially charged Brittany D. Stubbs, 18, Nehemiah Neal Jr., 18, and Jahrell Vhantice Neal, 20, each with first-degree murder and attempted robbery with a firearm in the death of Keith Stengel, 58.

All three will be arraigned Tuesday on the charges, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

Attorney Neil McLoughlin is representing Nehemiah Neal Jr., of 518 Willard Ave., Lehigh Acres.

He reported that his client had his first appearance Friday and is being held without bond.

“It’s rare that they do that many indictments in this circuit (court),” McLoughlin said.

Attorney Byron Hileman is representing Jahrell Vhantice Neal, also of 518 Willard Ave.

He did not return a message Friday seeking comment on the indictment.

Attorney Zachary Ribel is representing Stubbs, of 3719 Winkler Ave., Fort Myers.

He declined to comment on the indictment and his client’s case.

Jahrell Vhantice Neal and Stubbs are also being held at the Lee County Jail without bond.

Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner is prosecuting all three cases.

At 6:55 p.m. Sept. 19, Fort Myers police responded to a call in reference to gunshots heard at the Sienna Apartments, at 3725 Winkler Ave. Ext. They found Stengel with a gunshot wound to his back.

He was trauma-alerted in critical condition to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Police processed the crime scene and gathered evidence, officials reported. An investigation revealed that Stubbs had lured Stengel to the location for a robbery. She was arrested and charged Sept. 20.

The Neal brothers were sought for questioning for their alleged role in the shooting.

On Sept. 23, they were located in Lehigh with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Florida Regional Task Force. Both of the men were arrested and charged after reportedly confessing to the crime.
