A book lovers dream

The Friends of the Cape Coral Library, the group of community members and volunteers who support the activites of the library, are getting ready for their annual November book sale.

The sale will take place Nov. 21- 23 in the meeting room at the Cape Coral Public Library at 921 SW 39th Terrace, just off Mohawk Parkway.

Paula Novender, event organizer, said the two annual book sales (the other is in April) are what fund the group and the myriad of functions they serve.

“We worry in this age of Kindles and e-readers that people will stop buying books, but they haven’t yet, thank goodness,” Novender said. “We bring in between $6,000 and $7,000 per sale and it all goes back to the library.”

The event will begin with a members only preview on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 3 to 5:30 p.m., where members can a first peak while signing up others to join the group for a $10 annual fee.

The sale will be open to the public on Friday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 8,000 books will be on sale, most of which are priced at $2 or less, as well as donations from the public, not library withdrawals.

The books are from all genres, including current fiction, travel, history, military, gardening, cooking, children’s and foreign language.

The Friends of the Cape Coral Library relies on the book sale to continue its support of the library, not only in regards to storage, display equipment and improvements to the library, but also to help provide a variety of special programs.
