Oasis Fall Fest coming Saturday

2 min read

The fourth-annual Oasis Fall Festival will be happening Saturday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Oasis Charter Schools campus at 3415 Oasis Blvd.

The event is expected to have fun activities for people of all ages, including food vendors, entertainment, games, laser tag, a rock-climbing wall, petting zoo, an obstacle course, bounce houses and for the first time, a hayride.

Jen-Hope Belis, chairperson for the Fall Festival, said it’s an event the entire system is participating in to help the schools’ various clubs and activities raise funds.

“All the booths are from clubs. You’ll see the wrestling team there, the football team, even the elementary school classes,” Belis said. “Whether it’s face painting, the dunk tank or a dart game, they’re for their activities, for field trips, stage props, whatever they need.”

For example, the JROTC will hold a jail bail, which is expected to be a big hit since much of its funding has evaporated and it needs uniforms and other items for its cadets.

The school is also going through Phase III technology project with portable labs, tablets and laptops and they are trying to purchase two more labs after getting one last year, Belis said.

Among the entertainment on the city stage will be numerous dance groups featuring members who attend Oasis schools, the Oasis Singers, made up of 4th and 5th graders, as well as the sixth-grade class, which will also do a musical performance.

Food will be provided by Chick-Fil-A, Little Caesar’s and others.

“It’s going to be a carnival atmosphere. You can come and enjoy the entertainment and the food,” Belis said. “It will be a great day with great weather, so it will be a nice day to get outside.”

Tickets can be purchased at the event, or you can buy wrist bands in advance and get unlimited use of the inflatable areas for $10. They are $20 the day of the event.

Those who just want to walk around and browse are invited in for free.
