Woman injured in shooting treated and released
A woman injured in a shooting that left a Cape Coral man dead has been treated and released.
J’Leisa Jesshal Ruffin, 21, of Fort Myers, had been discharged from Lee Memorial Hospital as of Tuesday, according to officials. She was transported to the hospital after the incident Sunday.
At 3:40 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting. Ruffin was driving on Old McGregor Boulevard and wanted to meet deputies to get medical attention after being shot.
Deputies responded and found that she had crashed near the McGregor Woods community.
Ruffin was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Meanwhile, a second call was received about shots fired in the 4800 block of Hager Court in the Harlem Heights community of Fort Myers. Deputies responded and found a man who had been shot.
It was determined that both victims had been shot at Hager Court, officials reported.
The man was en route to the hospital when he died as a result of his injuries.
He since has been positively identified as Andres Lopez, 33.
Lopez’s body was released to the District 21 Medical Examiner’s Office.
No additional details were available for release as of Monday, according to officials.
The investigation continues.
