Rockwave Festival hits JetBlue Park Saturday

3 min read

After patiently waiting for months for this day to arrive, thousands of local rock fans are ready to jam at the first Rockwave Festival, presented by 96-KROCK, featuring Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington, Jane’s Addiction, Chevelle, Filter, Anberlin, Sunshine and Bullets, Beware of Darkness and Before the Fire at JetBlue Park, 11500 Fenway South Drive, Fort Myers, Saturday, Sept. 21, with doors opening at noon.

“I’m super excited to help launch the new 96-KROCK radio station in Fort Myers, with Jane’s Addiction and Stone Temple Pilots, Filter, Anberlin and one of my new favorite acts, Beware Of Darkness,” said festival creator and producer Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents, who also put on the Fort Rock Festival earlier this year, featuring The Offspring, Stone Sour, Papa Roach and others. “What a great party it’s going to be to close out the summer in Fort Myers.”

During a recent Battle of the Bands competition to win the opening spot for the gig, local boys of Before the Fire earned the timeslot, kicking off the show at 1 p.m.

Even with the addition of the local band and gates opening an hour earlier, general admission tickets are still available for $45 (plus fees) and VIP tickets are $89.50 (plus fees). Avoid fees by purchasing them from any local Tropical Smoothie or Vapin’ Apes location (see RockwaveFest.com for a list of addresses) and the 96-KROCK station, 20125 S. Tamiami Trail, Estero.

VIP tickets include a VIP entrance into the venue; access to a covered VIP lounge area, featuring dedicated bar, beverage and food service; viewing of main stage (seated and standing areas); seated area with shade for dining and private restroom facilities; and a VIP guest laminate.

Aside from non-stop rock all day long, concert-goers can peruse the many vendors offering anything cool and eclectic while taking a break from the music.

A word of advice for anyone who hasn’t yet attended a concert at JetBlue Park before: Be sure to bring some type of shade (umbrella, covered beach chairs, brimmed hat, etc.), because, unless you’re in the white-and-bright VIP?tent, there will most likely be little to no shade at this venue. No shade paired with an all-day show can be absolutely brutal. During the Fort Rock Festival in April, people were literally seated knee to knee, in a single line of the flagpole shadow, inching more and more as the shadow moved with the sun. So, bring shade, bring sunscreen and drink plenty of water!

96-KROCK presents Rockwave Festival is produced by Danny Wimmer Presents and AEG Live, part of the team that produces the massively successful Rock On The Range, Carolina Rebellion, Welcome To Rockville, and Fort Myers’ own Fort Rock music festival. 96-KROCK presents Rockwave Festival is fueled by Monster Energy.
