Cape Coral sexual battery suspect arrested in Massachusetts

1 min read

A Cape Coral man wanted for a sexual battery involving a child was arrested Wednesday night in Massachusetts.

Jeffrey A Leclair, 48, was arrested by the Massachusetts State Police on a Capital Sexual Battery warrant authored by Cape Coral Police Major Crimes detectives.

In August, a woman reported to Cape Coral police that her daughter, 7, told her that she had been sexually abused by the woman’s boyfriend, Leclair, over the past several months, at his Cape Coral home.

Leclair denied the allegations when interviewed by detectives. Leclair then fled to Massachusetts during the investigation, according to a prepared statment issued Thursday by the Cape Coral Police Department.

The victim made a “detailed and compelling disclosure to investigators and child counselors with the Child Protection Team,” officials said. Upon working with the State Attorney’s Office, Cape Coral Police secured an arrest warrant for Leclair on charges of Capital Sexual Battery. Cape Coral Detectives assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Office Fugitive Task Force, working with the Massachusetts State Police, located Leclair Wednesday night. He was arrested and will face extradition back to Florida.
