Cape Coral and Mariner High School bands to host fund raiser for trip to Washington, D.C.
The Cape Coral High School Marching Seahawks and the Mariner High School Silver Magic Marching Band are proud to announce their joint participation and representation of the City of Cape Coral in the 2014 National Memorial Day Parade, to be held in Washington D.C. in May of 2014. After receiving nominations from Congressman Trey Radel, Mariner Band Director James Samz and Cape Band Director Stacey Green decided to represent the community of Cape Coral together. The ensembles will have the opportunity to march down historic Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th street in front of an audience of several hundred thousand spectators! The parade will be broadcast on Discovery’s Military Channel.
In preparation for this momentous trip, the Marching Seahawks and the Silver Magic Marching Band will begin their fundraising efforts with a Family Fun Night kickoff event this Saturday, September 7th, at Mike Greenwell’s. The event will run from 4 11 p.m. and will include a keynote speech by the City of Cape Coral Mayor Jim Sullivan. Participants who purchase a $12 wristband will have access to unlimited go-carting, putt-putt golf and batting cages. The schools’ bands will receive 50 percent of the proceeds of every wristband purchased. The whole community is invited to come out and enjoy a fun-filled night as they help the Seahawk and Triton musicians get to D.C.!
