1 min read

Col. Alan M. Dodd, district commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Ernie Barnett, interim executive director of the South Florida Water Management District, will discuss the ongoing freshwater releases from Lake Okeechobee and the Caloosahatchee basin into the Caloosahatchee River at a special town hall meeting to be hosted by Lee County and the City of Sanibel.

The town hall meeting is free and open to the public and will take place Thursday, Sept. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lee County Emergency Operations Center, 2675 Ortiz Ave. in Fort Myers. No RSVP is required.

Following informational presentations from both organizations regarding the freshwater releases and management of Lake Okeechobee and the Central and Southern Flood Control System, members of the public may ask questions or provide comments.

Lee County Commissioner Tammy Hall and Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane will serve as facilitators for the discussion.
