Man faces school grounds weapons charge

1 min read

A Cape Coral man was charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds after police say they found two firearms in a vehicle parked in the lot at Oasis Charter School Monday afternoon.

Cape Coral police arrested Kenneth A Pearson, 39, after a consent search led to the discovery the firearms, police said in a prepared statement.

There were no reports of any guns being displayed nor were there any reports of any threats to students, the release states.

“It is believed that Pearson was at the school due to a disturbance with an adult employee of the school. It does not appear that this was part of a larger incident,” officials said.

Pearson was transported to the Lee County Jail where he remained in custody Monday evening.

More information will be released Tuesday when available, officials said.
