Fort Myers police investigating bank robbery

Fort Myers police are continuing to investigate a robbery that happened this morning at the Bank of America at 1511 Matthew Drive.

Officers were called to the bank at 9:49 a.m. Upon arrival, police learned that a male suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.

No one inside the bank was hurt.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, entering a car that was waiting on the west side of the parking lot. The vehicle is described as a late ’90s beige sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or Corolla. The driver of the car is described as a white female with light brown hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Police set up a perimeter using the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and police K9 but did not locate the suspect.

Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the robbery suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
